BACKGROUND

Triumph Sportscars is a family run business, specialising in the repair and restoration of Triumph sports cars for over 25 years. I started in the automotive industry in 1967 as an apprentice panel beater and spray painter. My first exposure to English sports cars was as a child with a neighbour’s MG TC and Austin specials. I have been a Triumph enthusiast for over 25 years since deciding that I wanted my own British sports car. Looking for something a little different to the norm at the time I sought out a Spitfire, eventually finding a 1963 MKI Spitfire being used as a paddock bomb which was later discovered to be one of the oldest Spitfires in Australia. After restoration the MKI has won at a number of Victorian and National Concours meets.

I regularly race a TR7 (Choc Wedge) at historic events and local club events at Phillip Island, Sandown, Calder, Winton, Mallala and Wakefield Park, hill climbs at Rob Roy, Mt. Tarrengower, Haunted Hills and Collingrove and sprints at Eddington and Heathcote Park. I also frequently attend touring events and National Rallys, driving a 1977 Spitfire 1500. Prior to the 1500 I drive a Spitfire MKIII for many years.
